Even More Info

An order of service is a very important part of many formal and religious events. From weddings to bar mitzvahs it’s important to let your guests and those in attendance know what is happening when. You may want to include pictures of the special someone or the words to the hymns and readings so people can follow along during the ceremony. They can also serve as a great memento and act as a keepsake for guests to remember the event by.

Weddings

An obvious choice for an order of service is a wedding. The big day has arrived, your guests are flocking into your venue and you have got your aisle walk practised down to the tee. Now it is important for your guests to know what to expect and when. Your order or service could serve you in many ways.

The Ceremony

The traditional order of service for a wedding mainly covers the proceedings of the ceremony. You can include lyrics to hymns and maybe a poem you’ve selected to be read by close family members. You also will include a running order of the ceremony. When are you signing the register? When are the vows? All these questions and more can be answered in your printed order of service.

The Whole Day

A more unconventional way to use your wedding order of service is to map out the entire day into the order of service. Think of it as the ultimate guide to your wedding day. This way your guests will get a clear picture of rough timing for all the key point of the wedding day. The speeches, the cutting of the cake and even the bouquet throwing if your that organised! By offering a rough time guide, your guests then can relax a bit more and not feel the need to hover around the bride and groom in fear of missing out on anything. You could also include information about where you want photos shared and even a QR code to your gift list.

Funerals

Unfortunately, there will come a time where you will need an order of service for a funeral and remembering a loved one that has sadly passed on. Although usually a short service, a funeral usually contains a couple of hymns or readings from a religious text. For those that may not be familiar with the songs or reading, it’s customary to provide an order of service with this information in. Usually the order of service is personalised with a photo of them on the front and you may even include a few extra photos on the inside of the order of service of them with family members. This will help the attendees remember the departed with fond memories and maybe even jog their memory of some good stories to share at the wake later on in the day. It’s important to make sure you get enough orders of service made so that each guest can take one away and put it on their mantle or fridge to server as a remembrance of your cherished loved one.

Awards Ceremony

You may find yourself hosting the latest and greatest awards show which is an evening of entertainment, food and most importantly, awards! If your award ceremony has lots of guests attending there will be lots of questions that are asked. When is the food? What time does the awards start? When is my category? All of this can be solved with a printed order of service. The order of service around the event can include the running order for the evening along with nominations for each award and even the all important menu of the food people can expect. You also get a prime spot to put information about your sponsors for the event and also information about your award show and what you’re all about. Now your guests are much more informed and just eliminates some of the inevitable questions your guests are likely to ask.

Religious ceremonies

When arranging a religious ceremony such as a christening, baptism or bar mitzvah, you are likely to end up with some guests that are family members that are not necessarily part of your religious community. They are there to show their support to you as you go through a big moment in your religious journey despite their own beliefs. An order of service could be a life saver for these people so they can follow along with the service and hopefully get some sort of understanding as to what is happening. It also gives all your guests a rundown of what songs are going to be sung, when the important bit is happening and what readings will be made during the ceremony.
